Kevin Campbell has been left in a rage when responding to a tweet from Peter Reid, labelling an incident in the clash between Everton and Crystal Palace a “disgrace”.
The Toffees were held by Roy Hodgson’s side in their FA Cup third round clash on Thursday 4 January, but the conversation around the match was the controversial decision to send off Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a tackle on Nathaniel Clyne.
Calvert-Lewin was given his marching orders after a lengthy VAR check in a decision that has left the footballing world outraged, with Sky Sports pundit Campbell the latest to voice his frustration with the referee’s call.

Former Toffees midfielder Reid took to Twitter on Thursday (4 January) posting: “I’ve lost the will to live, games gone.”
Campbell quickly replied saying: “Disgrace Reidy”.
Absolute disgrace
It’s not often the footballing world is entirely united on one issue, but the decision to send Calvert-Lewin off against Palace on Thursday seems to have outraged almost every single person who is aware that it happened.
While there is an argument that the England international’s studs were showing as he entered the tackle, he made absolutely no contact with Clyne. If he doesn’t connect with the Palace defender, how can he ever be given his marching orders, especially after a lengthy check?
These sorts of terrible decisions are being made week in and week out in the Premier League and it shows just how poor the standard of officiating currently is in the English game. It may not have had a big holding on Thursday’s game, but these calls can have a serious impact on matches.
Hopefully, this latest mistake from the officials will be the spur to kick the Premier League’s bosses into making a change for the better, but if other controversial decisions are anything to go by, it is unlikely to have that big an effect in the long run.
