Mohammed Kudus almost certainly on his way back to West Ham after late Ghana disaster at AFCON
Mohammed Kudus is almost certainly on his way back to West Ham this week after late Ghana disaster against Mozambique at AFCON.
West Ham’s star boy Mohammed Kudus looks almost certain to return to east London this week in a major boost for David Moyes.
That’s after Ghana threw away a 2-0 lead in stoppage time to draw 2-2 with Mozambique.
It was a lead Ghana barely deserved as they were outplayed for long periods. Two penalties from Jordan Ayew put Kudus and co 2-0 up. But when hapless Chris Hughton took West Ham hero Kudus off on 88 minutes it all fell apart.
Mozambique won a penalty when former West Ham player Andre Ayew handled in the box.
And from the resulting kick-off Mozambique won a corner from which they got a deserved equaliser.
We reported on Hammers News ahead of AFCON that ‘West Ham could get a huge Kudus boost thanks to hapless Hughton’s bang average Ghana’. And our report highlighted that Ghana are nowhere near even being in the top five favourites.
The result, coupled with Cape Verde’s draw with Egypt mean Ghana sit third in their group on two points with a minus one goal difference.
As things stand Ghana will not qualify for the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed sides.

So Kudus could be back at West Ham as soon as this week to start preparing for the Bournemouth game on February 1st.
Just as we told you would likely be the case a week ago.
Given West Ham’s struggles without Kudus, it is simply fantastic news for Moyes and the club.
Although spare a thought for Kudus – to whom playing for his country means a great deal.
Even if Ghana are somehow elevated into one of the four best third-placed sides due to results elsewhere in the final matches in the other groups, they would face a group winner.
And on the evidence of their performances and results under Hughton over the last year, Kudus would surely be sent packing back to West Ham next week anyway.
