Report: West Ham now clear favourites to sign PL striker who’s only scored 12 goals since 2021
West Ham United are thought to be leading the race to sign a striker from our Premier League rivals in the January transfer window.
The January transfer window is a vital one for West Ham boss David Moyes, with the addition of a top-class striker an absolute must.
The Hammers manager currently has Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio all unavailable for selection.
We are definitely very light indeed in the attacking department, so the addition of a proven forward this month would be a major boost for us.
And according to The Athletic, West Ham are now in pole position to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea this winter.
That’s because we’re apparently the only club who are even close to meeting the Blues’ £50 million valuation of the 22-year-old. Broja would be absolutely perfect for us, and it seems like there is a genuine chance he could be a Hammers player before the end of the month…

Now, I would absolutely love the Albania international at the London Stadium, in spite of his poor form in front of goal.
Broja has bagged just 12 goals in 73 games in all competitions since the start of the 2021 campaign (Transfermarkt), but don’t let those numbers fool you. What he would bring to West Ham is so much more than just goals.
The Chelsea forward is always willing to make selfless runs into the channels, freeing up more space for his teammates in the process. He is extremely strong when playing with his back to goal, and is very hard to dispossess. Broja is a pretty good finisher as well, although he does need to learn to make more selfish runs at times, in order to get himself into better goalscoring positions.
You could not build a striker who is more suited to Moyes’s system than the Albanian. And if Chelsea are really trying to sell Armando Broja, West Ham should be all over it.
That said, I don’t think we should be paying anything like £50 million for him. West Ham should offer Chelsea £30 million for the 22-year-old striker in the January transfer window and see where that takes us.
