‘Immediately’: Sky Sports journalist says £45m player now wants West Ham move done

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips looks like he is on his way to West Ham having made his mind up over the switch.

Phillips has been one of the most in-demand midfielders on the market this month but looks to have decided on a move to West Ham, despite interest from elsewhere.

The England man is looking for regular football between now and the summer and according to Sky’s Florian Plettenberg, Phillips wants the move done quickly.

According to Plettenberg, taking to X, Phillips has now decided that West Ham is the club for him and he wants to sign for them ASAP.

It’s claimed that talks are now continuing to get to the stage where a verbal agreement is reached and from there, West Ham will hope to complete the deal.

The England star wants to play to try and secure a place in the squad for Euro 2024 but knows he can only do that by moving clubs.

City have been looking for a fee from clubs willing to take Phillips and the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham are believed to have considered signing him as well.

However, it now looks like David Moyes and West Ham are the team who have won the race and Phillips will hope to plug the gap injuries have left the Hammers with.

Big signing
West Ham winning the race for Phillips seems like a big deal for the club.

It shows they are an attractive place to play football and given the level of interest in the England star, David Moyes will be delighted to get this over the line.

The fact Phillips has effectively chosen them shows a big confidence in the Hammers as well.

If this one does get done this week, then West Ham fans can be delighted with what will be a significant signing for the club.
