Everton deal to sign in-form player in January would include £7m option to buy – report

Everton transfer news: Fulham twist emerges in race to sign Nottingham Forest target Jhon Cordoba
Fulham have now joined Everton, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace in the race to sign Krasnodar striker Jhon Cordoba, according to the Evening Standard.

The news outlet reported on 22 January that any deal to sign the 30-year-old will include a £7million option to buy in the summer.

The Colombia international has been in form this season, scoring 11 games in 20 league appearances.

Not needed

The last thing Everton need in their current financial dilemma is to get into a transfer battle with three other Premier League sides.

Even if it’s on loan, there will be certain bonuses that clubs could be willing to offer to swing the deal in their favour.

While Cordoba is doing well this season, he is an out-and-out striker and that’s not a position Sean Dyche is looking to strengthen right away.

The club backed him in the summer to secure Beto’s services and he’s playing as an adept understudy to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Goals may have dried up recently for the Toffees striker, but that does not mean a replacement is needed and that Cordoba will necessarily be an upgrade on the England international.

A wide attacker, midfielder and maybe defensive reinforcements are ahead in the priority list in the January transfer window than a new striker.
