Report: Everton were tracking ‘outstanding’ midfielder who has now been sold for £115m
Everton were tracking Ecuadorian international Moises Caicedo before the midfielder played for Brighton & Hove Albion.
The ‘outstanding’ 21-year-old moved to the English south coast in 2021 in a £4.5m deal with Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

The midfielder quickly showed that he was one of the most consistent and exciting young prospects in the Premier League, attracting the attention of many clubs.
Indeed, looking set to complete a £111m deal with Liverpool during the summer, Caicedo rejected a move to Anfield at the eleventh hour, instead signing for Chelsea.

Everton’s transfer policy has left a lot to be desired during Farhad Moshiri’s reign at Goodison Park, with some expensive flops leaving the Blues fighting relegation in recent years.
Indeed, the influx of cash that followed Moshiri’s 2016 investment has been poorly spent on the whole, but Caicedo could have been a superb recruit at Goodison Park.
No doubt it will be frustrating to have missed out on such a player, who recently sold for an enormous profit, but the fact that Everton’s scouts tracked the Ecuadorian indicates that the club has eyes on the right players.
Meanwhile, reports in inews indicate that Everton will look to strengthen their midfield in January with a loan approach for out-of-favour Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Hopefully Phillips will be one potential addition to Everton’s squad that they don’t miss out on.
