Everton potentially face significant obstacles as they aim to fight against the charges of breaching the Profitability and Sustainability rules.
According to the Daily Mail on Friday (19 January), that the Toffees could demand a third trial as they fight to overturn the Premier League regulations.
The appeal’s verdict is expected in February and an unfavourable decision gives the club the option of having another go.
The Mail report reads: “Everton could demand a third trial in their battle to overturn the Premier League’s 10-point deduction for breaching spending limits if their appeal fails next month.
“Mail Sport has learned that under Premier League rules clubs have the right to challenge an appeal decision in an arbitration hearing, although Everton would face significant obstacles in seeking to get two verdicts overturned.”
The fight for justice
Everton’s situation with the Premier League’s 10-point deduction has raised questions about consistency in enforcing financial rules.
While the Toffees face significant penalties, other clubs like Manchester City have previously breached rules without facing similar consequences.
Chelsea have also faced accusations regarding financial practices.
