West Ham United could make the loan transfer of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City official in the next hours, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Writing on their website (19 January), the Spanish news outlet report that the Hammers have pushed forward with a move for the England international.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move but a move to east London now looks as though it could be close to happening, with an official announcement mooted for later today.
“The London club is in talks with Manchester City to obtain the loan of the midfielder, who had been linked with Barcelon as an affordable option to reinforce the midfield,” they wrote.
“West Ham is pressing and in the next few hours his loan could be official.”

A transfer for Phillips is something that has been spoken about for several years now, with David Moyes making a January move for him two years ago while he was still at Leeds.
Obviously it didn’t happen and he ended up at Manchester City, but it hasn’t worked out for him at all there and he has essentially lost his place in the England squad.
West Ham have a need for a new central midfielder to come in and provide depth and quality to the current options with all of James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek, Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez considered to be starters in the strongest team when everyone is fit.
Phillips will be hungry and looking for regular game time and Moyes is a big fan so he will have an idea of how he wants to use him, and it can only be a big positive for the Hammers at this point.
