Haskins, 24, died early Saturday, April 9, after being struck by a dump truck while trying to cross I-595 in South Florida. Kalabrya Haskins, wife of Miami reporter Andy Slater, said in a 911 call. her husband was about to get gas.
Haskins the woman told 911 that her husband called her and said he was stuck on the side of the highway and was getting gas. When he didn’t call back, Kalabrya tried to call and then called for help.Kalabrya Haskins:
My husband, he was stuck on the side of the highway. He had to walk and get gas. We called. He said he would call me back. I called and called but he didn’t answer. Finally I called him again and the phone hung up.
