Hopefully…”: Crystal Palace starlet now sends debut message to Roy Hodgson over 20-year-old

Crystal Palace starlet Ademola Ola-Adebomi has been in sensational form for the under-21s, and Kaden Rodney has now praised him.

Adebomi scored twice against a West Brom academy side to take his tally to four strikes in seven games, and has a solid scoring record at both under-18 and under-21 level.

With Crystal Palace suffering from a lot of injuries, as well as struggling in front of goal, he could be a wildcard option for the first team, and his teammate Rodney has now sent a message to manager Roy Hodgson.

Speaking to club media after the victory over West Brom, Rodney claimed that Ola-Adebomi’s form is so good that he is on his way to a first-team debut.

“Of course [Mola’s been playing some of his best football], especially this season. It’s been one of his best seasons. He’s been training with the first-team, in and around them a lot and now he’s come back down and proven he’s capable by scoring those two goals today,” Rodney stated.

“He’s going to continue like that through the season and hopefully he makes his Premier League debut whenever Roy [Hodgson] calls him up.”

Hodgson caused controversy this week with his comments about Palace’s young substitutes in the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, and he gave the impression that he may be unwilling to trust younger players in the first team for the foreseeable future.

This does not bode well for Ola-Adebomi, but he should bide his time. His form has been impressive in the academy for a while, and at 20, he still has time on his side if he has to wait a while longer for his debut.

Coming into a side struggling in front of goal could put extra pressure on him, and he should continue to focus on his strong form at under-21 level until the conditions become more suitable for him to appear for the first-team eventually.

The fact he is already training with Hodgson’s senior side, is a positive step for his chances.
