Amadou Onana has already made transfer admission amid ‘intensive’ Arsenal talks

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is a target for Arsenal during the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta bids to strengthen
Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is confident he could make the step up to a traditional ‘big six’ club amid ongoing talks with Arsenal.
The Toffees’ central player has been building a good reputation for himself in the Premier League since arriving in 2022 from Lille. In the summer, Onana was linked with a move to Manchester United but the deal never materialised.
However, he has not let this minor setback hold him down. Under Sean Dyche, the 22-year-old has distanced himself as one of Everton’s key players making 21 appearances and scoring two goals in the process.
Football.London understands this form has caught the eye of the Gunners. We understand the North London club are exploring the possibility of bringing Onana to the capital with other reports suggesting the talks are ‘intensive’.

It is believed the Merseyside team want £50m to allow the Belgian, whose contract expires in 2027, to leave this winter. However, Arsenal are hopeful Everton’s current financial situation will allow for some wiggle room in regards to that amount.
Should Onana make the switch to the Emirates, the youngster is not concerned about the pressure which could mount on his shoulders. Speaking in November last year, after the United links, he told Transfermarkt: “I am truly convinced that there are no upper limits for me.
“That doesn’t mean to sound arrogant. But I believe in my abilities and that I can come to a top club and become a regular player there.”
If he was to move to Arsenal, there is no set idea on where he would feature. One working hypothesis is for Onana to drop into defensive midfield allowing Declan Rice to move further forward.
