NFL free agency updates 2023: Signings, trades, rumors, new

We are through the bulk of 2023 NFL free agency. Teams have been agreeing to deals with unrestricted free agents and re-signing their own players since March 13, when the legal tampering period opened. Now that the new league year has begun, those deals can be made official. We tracked all of the action, including free agent signings, notable trades, cap-saving releases and more.

This free agent class is loaded with playmakers on offense and defense, and we’ve already seen a bunch of high-end players find new teams. Orlando Brown Jr. — our top free agent for this year — has signed in Cincinnati, but many solid players are still out there. We’ve also seen a few trades, including Darren Waller to the Giants and Brandin Cooks to the Cowboys.

Jets agree to terms with WR Hardman
Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman has agreed to terms with the New York Jets on a one-year deal, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday. Hardman is the second wide receiver added by the Jets in free agency, joining Allen Lazard, who signed a four-year contract with New York last week.

The New York Giants have center J.C. Hassenauer in for a visit on Wednesday, a source told ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. He spent the past four years with the Pittsburgh Steelers and appeared in 45 games with seven starts.

How do the Packers know QB Love is ready to replace Rodgers?

Saints to sign S Abram
Safety Johnathan Abram is planning to sign with the New Orleans Saints after a physical on Wednesday, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Abrams played five games for the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 after they claimed him off waivers in November. The Raiders drafted Abrams in the first round of the 2019 draft but waived him in November. He played two games for the Green Bay Packers before he was waived for a second time and picked up by Seattle. The Saints also are re-signing defensive tackle Malcolm Roach to a one-year deal, a source told ESPN’s Katherine Terrell.

Cardinals sign OL Daley
The Arizona Cardinals are signing offensive lineman Dennis Daley to a two-year deal, ESPN’s Field Yates reported. Daley started 16 games for the Tennessee Titans at left tackle in 2022.

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed defensive lineman Henry Anderson, ESPN’s Field Yates reported. Anderson appeared in 11 games for the Panthers in 2022.

Cardinals re-sign CB Hamilton, DL Ledbetter
The Cardinals re-signed cornerback Antonio Hamilton and defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter signed his one-year tender as an exclusive rights free agent, ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reported. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Hamilton will get $1.5 million guaranteed ($335K signing bonus) on his one-year deal, which will max out at $2 million if Hamilton hits his playing-time incentives.

“I’m getting half my value of what I could be getting,” Ekeler said of the $6.25 million he is scheduled to earn in the fourth and final season of a $24.5 million contract.
