The Las Vegas Raiders are now in the offseason, looking for ways to improve their team to return to the postseason in 2024.
One way they will do that is by evaluating talent at all positions in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Raiders have talent on both sides of the ball but have some areas where they need to upgrade.
One area they may not necessarily need to overhaul is their secondary. However, they may want to add more pieces to put them over the top. Thankfully, there are several talented defensive backs in the draft class.
That includes Michigan safety Rod Moore. A major contributor on a National Championship-winning team, Moore could be one of the top safety prospects in the class.
Moore has not yet declared for the draft, but if he does, he certainly could find himself in the conversation to be a first-round selection. He has some of the most elite coverage skills out of all the safety prospects in the class and has been a winning player throughout his career.
If Moore declares, he will have finished his Wolverine career with 142 total tackles, two and a half tackles for loss, seven passes defended, and six interceptions. He was named Third-Team All-Big Ten in 2023.
Moore stands at 6 feet tall and 198 pounds with a compact and slender build. He moves well with a smooth backpedal and fluid hip movement. According to Pro Football Focus, Moore was targeted 28 times, allowing just 16 receptions for 139 yards and only one touchdown.
Moore was excellent against Ohio State in Michigan’s final regular season game of 2023, finishing with five total tackles and the game-sealing interception. He was consistently diagnosing plays and was often around the football.
On his interception, the Wolverines were playing Cover 3, Moore covering the deep middle. He quickly diagnosed Buckeyes’ wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.’s in-breaking route and dove in front of the pass, sealing the game for Michigan.
If Moore declares, the Raiders may take a hard look at him. He has the physical build to play slot cornerback in the NFL, if not safety, so his versatility could be appealing to Las Vegas.
