Jonathan Panzo has been the subject of recent transfer speculation, with reports suggesting that the defender’s immediate future very much remains up in the air.
This all stems from a significant lack of gametime at current Championship outfit Cardiff City, where he was one of an array of signings brought in by Erol Bulut during the Turk’s first transfer window at the Cardiff City Stadium, with the 23-year-old facing the possibility of a recall by parent club, Nottingham Forest.

Carlton Palmer hints at ideal return to Coventry City for Jonathan Panzo
Speaking exclusively to Football League World, former defender Carlton Palmer issued his own verdict regarding these ongoing developments.

“Forest are not happy that their centre-back Jonathan Panzo went to Cardiff City on loan, and has only played 170 minutes in all competitions,” he began. “Forest are considering recalling him and loaning him back out to another Championship or European club.”
“Panzo was not short of admirers in the summer, with the likes of Swansea City, West Brom, Coventry City, Rangers, Birmingham City, and Anderlecht all interested in signing him.”
Palmer then went on to state that Panzo is at a stage of his career where regular football is a must, and he could find that yet again under Mark Robins and Coventry City.
The former Sky Blues defender concluded: “At 23, Panzo is no longer considered a youngster, and therefore, needs to be playing regularly. I would not rule out a return to Coventry City where the club and the manager know him well, added to the fact he enjoyed a successful spell there previously.”

Panzo was viewed as an astute loan signing for Cardiff back in the summer after factoring in the current ceiling of his potential coupled with the fact he has already established himself in the second tier through previous stints with Coventry and Forest.
However, the 23-year-old and former Chelsea youth product has suffered a frustrating six-month period, as he is yet to start a Championship game for the Bluebirds, only making four substitute appearances.
Despite being left out of the heavy 4-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup due to an alleged mutual agreement between Cardiff and Forest, it’s reported that Nuno Espirito Santo’s new club are weighing up a number of potential options for Panzo, although a final decision is yet to be made, as per Darren Witcoop.
