‘Does not look realistic’… Manager now deals transfer blow to Crystal Palace
A striker is the order of the month for Crystal Palace and various different names have been touted as potential options.
Selhurst Park has seen poor offensive play for the majority of this season and it’s thought bringing in a new number nine would solve the majority of these issues.
However, the top target believed to be on the shortlist now looks unlikely to even be available after his manager has made it clear it’s unlikely a replacement is going to arrive.
Eddie Nketiah, despite looking unlikely in the first place due to his £50m price tag, now seems to be a no-go for Palace in January.
Speaking on Sunday in the aftermath of his sides FA Cup defeat to Liverpool, Mikel Arteta explained that it’s unlikely his side will sign a striker in January.
“At the moment it [signing a striker] does not look realistic. What my job is, and what we have to do is improve our players and try to get better results with the players we have.”
This is a substantial blow given the fact Arsenal were believed to be wanting to sign their Nketiah replacement before sanctioning his departure.
This means – at least this month – there likely won’t be a Nketiah move made however luckily Steve Parish has options.
