Everton striker Youssef Chermiti could depart Goodison Park on loan as part of a triple exit in the January transfer window, according to the Sunday People.
The newspaper reported in its print edition (31 December, page 50) that the Portuguese youngster could be one of three players to leave Sean Dyche’s side in the new year, with a loan switch away from Merseyside touted.
In addition, both Arnaut Danjuma and Ben Godfrey have been touted with potential moves in January. Both players have played bit part roles under Dyche this season and could depart Goodison Park in search of more regular first team football.
The Toffees are expected to focus on outgoing once again when the window opens as they attempt to navigate financial fair play rules and these potential exits could allow Everton the chance to add to their squad in the new year.
Makes sense
When Chermiti arrived on Merseyside in the summer, a few eyebrows were raised among Everton supporters as the Toffees had quite clearly signed a young talent for the future, while needing immediate fixes to avoid relegation to the Championship.
So far that scepticism has been proven correct as the 19-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game this season, instead making seven appearances from the bench, totalling 46 minutes of action without scoring or assisting a single goal.
Chermiti was afforded one start in the Carabao Cup agaisnt Doncaster Rovers, but was hooked at halftime as he struggled to match the pace of the game. iven his slow start to life in the Premier League, it would be best for all parties if he gained some experience lower in the English pyramid with a loan switch.
Exits for both Danjuma and Godfrey feel almost certain as the Toffees look to trim their wage bill. For whatever reason, Danjuma has been unable to earn a regular place in Dyche’s team while Godfrey is clearly fourth choice at best, despite impressing when called upon.
All three of these moves appear likely when the window opens in January.
