“Rangers CEO Search Accelerates: New Recruitment Timeline Revealed as Bisgrove Exits for Saudi Club, Prompting Ibrox Club to Step Up Efforts to Fill Executive Void”
The Light Blue announced on Thursday, 30 May, that Bisgrove would be leaving his position in Glasgow to take up a role in Saudi Arabia, reportedly with the newly promoted Al Qadsiah (Scottish Daily Mail, 31 May).
Following Bisgrove’s departure, John Bennett will temporarily assume leadership. Rangers Review journalist Jack indicated that a new appointment may take some time.
Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (31 May, 6:00), he said: “I don’t think people should be overly concerned or upset about the timescale.
“Even if Rangers began the process immediately, whether through a headhunter, a recruitment firm, or contacting potential candidates, most suitable individuals will have their own notice periods.
“These periods could be three or six months, so it’s unrealistic to expect a new chief executive to be appointed immediately after Bisgrove’s departure last night.
Who has taken over for James Bisgrove at Rangers before the summer transfer window?
“Even starting the process today, it’s unlikely someone will be in place to manage Rangers through the transfer window.”
This kind of internal disruption at Ibrox comes at a challenging time, as the Light Blues start planning for the summer transfer window under Philippe Clement.
However, the Gers seem confident they can manage the off-season with their current team in Glasgow. Whether this confidence is justified will become clear in the coming weeks.
For now, Rangers need to prioritize the transfer window and recruitment. Once the market closes and the new season begins, they can focus on strengthening their behind-the-scenes staff.
A lot of work is needed before the next season if the Gers aim to surpass Celtic for the title, but appointing a new CEO can be postponed for now.
