Everton transfer news LIVE – Amadou Onana interest, Tottenham prediction and team news

Everton transfer news, rumours, gossip and speculation on Amadou Onana, Tottenham Hotspur team news and more

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is attracting transfer interest, according to reports.

In Spain, La Liga giants Barcelona are reportedly the latest team to be attracted in the Belgian international. The claim comes days after Premier League leaders Arsenal had pinpointed the 22-year-old as a potential midfield acquisition.

Sean Dyche provided an Everton injury update during Thursday’s press conference ahead of their trip to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur. While there was good news that Vitalii Mykolenko was in contention, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ashley Young have been ruled out through injury.

Ben Godfrey contract talks
Perhaps feeding into the pre-match furore, TEAMtalk have made the link between potential contract renewal talks with Ben Godfrey and transfer interest from Tottenham.

Upon the turn of the year, the defender will enter the final 18 months of his current Everton contract and so it is said the club hope to resolve this matter.

However Spurs have been named as one of a number monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation – Ange Postecoglou in need of defensive reinforcements.

Paul Merson prediction
Everton are on a four-game winning streak, they’ve scored eight goals without reply in that time and up next is a tough trip to fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

They have played an exciting brand of football under new manager Ange Postecoglou though injuries have been their undoing over the past month or so. Can the Blues capitalise?

Well, to put it bluntly no, says Paul Merson.

The pundit is predicting a 3-1 scoreline in the favour of the North Londoners, telling Sportskeeda: “Everton are flying in the Premier League. The midweek Carabao Cup loss to Fulham in the quarter-final was unfortunate. Tottenham also have their frontline firing right now. Richarlison is playing well and so is Dejan Kulusevski. Son Heung-min is enjoying a revival of sorts.

“Spurs are going to suffer next month when some of their biggest stars will leave for AFCON and the AFC Asian Cup. However, I think they have enough firepower to pull through.

“I think Tottenham are going to use their home advantage to go on and secure all three points against The Toffees despite the latter’s upturn in form in recent weeks.”

Amadou Onana interest
Barcelona are in need of midfield reinforcements and according to Marca, Everton’s Amadou Onana is one of the names on their list of targets.

Whilst a testament to the 22-year-old’s ability, the Blues will be hoping not to lose their man and so it is said it could cost the Spaniards close to £43m.

They have plenty of other names to turn to as well, with Martin Zubimendi, Joshua Kimmich and Sofyan Amrabat also mentioned.
