Speculation about Harbaugh’s departure is nothing new for Michigan fans. He has been heavily linked to NFL jobs since the conclusion of the 2021 season, even interviewing with the Minnesota Vikings.
Similar reports emerged at the end of the 2022 season, and they have bubbled up even more with sign-stealing allegations on the horizon. Harbaugh was linked to the Los Angeles Chargers head coaching job following the firing of former head coach Brandon Staley. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh conquered the program’s biggest rival in the Ohio State Buckeyes, and attended the College Football Playoff for three straight years. Although he hasn’t won a playoff game, these feats are enough for the Wolverines to want Harbaugh back.
Michigan wants Harbaugh to return, but they have no interest in dealing with NFL rumors towards the conclusion of every season.
Michigan gave harbaugh a lot of time to find his footing as he has been with the team since 2015. Harbaugh was even on the hot seat following a 2-4 record during the COVID year in 2020. Since that season, Harbaugh is 37-3 at Michigan with his only regular season loss coming in a top-10 matchup with in-state rival Michigan State.
