Everton were promised the world by Farhad Moshiri, who has delivered little during his near-eight years on Merseyside.
Having overspent and underperformed, it is really only the ever-evolving Bramley-Moore Dock stadium that offers a brief glimmer in what has been an otherwise indifferent tenure for the Iranian.
Whilst fans will forever thank him for putting in the work to forge a new home for their foreseeable future, they will hope that he is not a part of it for much longer.
And with reports that 777 Partners are set to take over, once the Premier League give them the green light, Evertonians could get their wish.
Well, The Athletic’s David Ornstein is the latest to pile on the frustrations aimed at Moshiri, speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast about Sean Dyche and his work in navigating such an awkward period.
He said: ‘He’s the sort of man that uses all the resources that are available to him to the maximum, the time on the training pitch, his assistants around him, Ian Woan’s got a good reputation too, and it’s actually a really pleasing story.

‘Everton supporters have maybe been sold the dream of this European football and high profile signings and glamorous managers, and beneath their feet they were sort of haemorrhaging the club’s future and existence by, yeah, great ambition, but pretty reckless decision-making.
‘And the stadium was on the way, and it’s like ‘we’re going to challenge the biggest guns in Premier League and European football!’ But perhaps there’s just a little bit of realism now that was much needed.
‘They’re not out of the woods yet financially by any means and we got confirmation last week that the stadium’s going to open the season after next, and that just gives them a little bit more time to sort of, for the first time in years, build a thorough and proper foundation to try and create a sustainable future. It’s badly needed at Everton.’
How bad has Farhad Moshiri’s ownership of Everton been?
The recent financial woes felt by Everton, resulting in their ten-point deduction, ultimately are just the tip of the iceberg that is Moshiri’s ill-fated reign over the club.
Having joined in 2016, many expected his vast fortune would be the catalyst that woke the sleeping giant; a titan of English football that had lay dormant for far too long.
However, it is the fiscal injection provided that has instead provoked mass regression, with his free-spending nature not supported by an intelligent long-term plan. As such, manager after manager has failed, due to the clueless nature of his hires.
Few could fault his ambition, but the list of his transgressions is endless.
The many managers that have come and gone from the Goodison Park dugout all turned into poor hires, whilst wholeheartedly backing Steve Walsh proved catastrophic. Conversely, appointing Marcel Brands only to ignore him was another crazy decision, with the Dutchman clearly a hugely intelligent footballing man.
Focusing on his own personal relationships, the likes of talkSPORT host Jim White and super-agent Kia Joorabchian often benefitted at the detriment of Everton too.
