It’s been a horrible season for an Everton fan off the pitch, with a host of horrible decisions and viewpoints coming to light.
The club were docked ten points for an FFP breach last season despite showing plenty of mitigating circumstances as to why that may have been an issue, while they were then charged for a second time despite an appeal process being ongoing.
On top of that the Premier League essentially admitted to the world that they view the Premier League clubs in two groups – big clubs and small clubs, with the Toffees somehow firmly placed in the latter group.
There’s also been a host of issues with TV companies selecting Everton games for slots that pay absolutely no mind to the fans who are travelling to games or may have a life outside of the schedule.
And if you don’t believe that to be true, TNT Sports have all but confirmed that they couldn’t care less about Everton with their latest trailer video to hype up the Premier League clash with Manchester City.
The Toffees head to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday lunchtime in a major game that will be broadcast live on their channel, and they released a video on their social media channels to promote the game.
But in a clip that lasted around 49 seconds, there wasn’t a single mention of the visiting team at all and not a single clip of footage of the team or their fans from this season.
In fact the only time we saw Everton at all in the clip was the footage of Manchester City’s win over the Toffees from last season.
You’d almost forget who Man City were playing against, and the backlash from fans surrounding the video saw the broadcaster eventually delete the video and post entirely. No apology, no re-post of correct footage, just a hope that it will be forgotten and brushed under the carpet.
It’s another sign of the clear bias towards the “Big Six” in the Premier League and how so-called smaller clubs are completely disregarded and disrespected. It’s a disgrace, and don’t expect anything to change any time soon.
