Cowboys vs. Bills: Dallas opens as underdog for third time all season

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (11) celebrates with defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (90) and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa (97) after making a sack during the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles on December 10, 2023 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

ARLINGTON – Sunday’s 33-13 win for the Dallas Cowboys was quite the opener to the team’s final stretch of the regular season.

“I just wanted to see us take a step as a football team,” head coach Mike McCarthy said after the win. “It’s about winning. Always about winning, but you know, you got to improve – you have to improve down the stretch here. You want to be playing your best football in December. And I think we got off to a great start tonight.”

Now, for another test, in a place that’s known for being a tough December test.

The Cowboys (10-3) will play at the Buffalo Bills (7-6) on Sunday. The Bills are coming off a thrilling road win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sunday’s game is also a rarity for Dallas. It’ll be the third time they’re the underdog all season.

The Bills, according to Draft Kings, open as 1.5-point favorites against the Cowboys. Dallas was the underdog in two other occasions this season: at San Francisco and at Philadelphia. The Cowboys lost both those games.

Could they turn it around with a win at Buffalo?

One factor to watch is the weather. Conditions on Sunday are currently forecasted to be mostly cloudy with a chance of precipitation, according to The Weather Channel. A high of 48 degrees and a low of 38 is also on the forecast, as well as 15 mile-per-hour winds.
