Tottenham Hotspur play host to West Ham United in the Premier League in north London tonight.

West Ham head to Tottenham in the midst of a five game unbeaten run in all competitions, including two wins and a draw from our last three Premier League outings, but the football has been really painful to watch at times.

Tonight’s clash with Spurs will be a real indicator of where the Hammers are at, as David Moyes goes in search of his first win against a top six side away from home since he returned to the London Stadium.

A win would put us back in the mix in the race for the top seven – even a point would be a very good result in all fairness.

But how will Moyes approach the game? Will he stick to his guns and set up his team in the same way that has yielded such scant rewards away from home against the big clubs? Or will he mix things up and go for the jugular against Spurs?

Unfortunately for us, it seems like we could be in for yet another snooze-fest…

Moyes plan for Tottenham vs West Ham emerges

According to the Evening Standard, the Hammers boss is unlikely to stray from his conservative approach in north London tonight.

So it will be very much a case of same old, same old for West Ham tonight it seems.

The sheer fact that Moyes has such an abysmal away record against the top six teams should be enough on its own to make the Scot at least consider changing his philosophy.

However, it seems as though the 60-year-old is far too set in his ways now.

Here’s the key. if Moyes is going to stick to his usual approach with a low block and allow Tottenham most of the ball, we absolutely have to hit them hard and fast on the counter, otherwise tonight’s game will be a pointless exercise.

West Ham absolutely have to cause Tottenham problems, and make them think that we are a real threat, otherwise it will be a walkover for the home side in north London tonight.

Hopefully we’re not too passive. I don’t mind us playing counter attacking football but that doesn’t mean allowing Spurs to do whatever they want when they’re in possession. Hopefully we can hurt them tonight and earn a vital three points. I just can’t see it though.
