Victor Osimhen may think twice about a Premier League move to Arsenal or Chelsea after revealing how he struggled up against one Tottenham star. The Napoli striker was linked with a transfer over the summer following a superb goal scoring season in Italy where he helped his team win the Scudetto.
The Nigeria international has endured a mixed start to the 2023/24 campaign, despite scoring six goals, after a TikTok was posted the club’s account that seemed to make fun of the star for missing a penalty in their 0-0 draw against Bologna earlier this season. However, a public statement from Osimhen’s party clarified the reports suggesting there was a significant fall out between the player and the club.
Nonetheless, transfer links then began to ramp up with both Arsenal and Chelsea in search of bolstering their attacking ranks in the upcoming windows. Brentford’s Ivan Toney is another forward of interest to both London clubs with his eight-month ban from football because of betting breaches, set to end in mid-January.
“I am happy at Napoli,” he admitted. “People don’t know how difficult it is to play in Serie A. From a tactical and physical point of view, it’s one of the most difficult leagues to play in.” Despite Osimhen’s claims, him moving on from Napoli feels inevitable, however if he does arrive in England, he will certainly not look forward to the two Premier League meetings up against Cristian Romero when Spurs appear on the fixture calendar.
On TVPLAY, via X (formerly Twitter) account AlbicelesteTalk, he said: “Cristian Romero was really the most difficult defender I have faced. The first time we met, I was impressed by his speed. I experienced very, very intense duels against him. I was shocked.”
