QB Tua Tagovailoa leads all NFL players — and by a wide margin
The Miami Dolphins’ incredible fan support has been obvious in some of their road games this season, and it’s showing up when it comes to Pro Bowl voting as well.
A whopping nine Dolphins players lead their position in the first voting results released by the NFL on Wednesday. Additionally, QB Tua Tagovailoa leads all players with 59,680, easily topping C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans with 44,095.
Along with Tua, the other Dolphins players leading their position including WR Tyreek Hill, who is fourth overall with 39,928 votes, RB Raheem Mostert, FB Alec Ingold, T Terron Armstead, CB Jalen Ramsey, LS Blake Ferguson, return specialist Braxton Berrios and special-teamer Duke Riley.
The Dolphins’ nine leading players are the most of any team, one ahead of the San Francisco 49ers, who did lead all teams in overall votes.
Fan voting counts for one-third of the Pro Bowl selection process along with votes from players and coaches.
Fans can vote as often as they would like to send the league’s best players at each position to Orlando for the Pro Bowl Games until Monday, Dec. 25 across a variety of platforms, including:
On club sites (i.e., https://www.newyorkjets.com/pro-bowl-games/vote)
Social voting — During the final two weeks of voting (Dec. 11 – Dec. 25), fans can vote directly on “X” (formerly Twitter) by tweeting the first and last name of the player, tagging the player’s official Twitter handle or creating a hashtag including the player’s first and last name. All three of these methods must include the hashtag: #ProBowlVote. During the final two days (Dec. 24 – Dec. 25), social votes will count as double.
NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, Dec. 29.
SECOND STRAIGHT STRONG PRO BOWL SHOWING
The Dolphins’ strong performance in the fan voting shouldn’t be a surprise because they did well last year as well.
Tagovailoa and Hill ended up first and second overall in fan votes last year, and Ingold and Armstead also were first in the AFC at fullback and tackle, respectively.
The Dolphins ended up with four Pro Bowl selections last year with Hill, Armstead, outside linebacker Bradley Chubb and cornerback Xavien Howard. Chubb was selected as an injury replacement, as was Tua, but he had to skip the all-star festivities as he was recovering from his second concussion.
Of the nine Dolphins players leading the early fan voting this year, four previously have been selected to the Pro Bowl: Hill, Armstead and Ramsey.
