Former Celtics Assess If Boston Needs to Make Move to Help Title Pursuit

Two former Boston Celtics in Paul Pierce and Evan Turner recently appeared on NBC Sports Boston and gave their opinions on whether the team needs to add another player to its roster to win a title this season.

“As the team constructed now, if they can just stay healthy,” Pierce said. “Cause we know that is a factor. Now, would you like to add one more big or one more wing or playmaker? Yes. Just for an insurance policy maybe. But if they can stay healthy, as constructed, this team should win a championship.”

Turner agreed with Pierce’s belief that the current roster is good enough to win the Celtics their 18th title in franchise history.

“I think the No. 1 is figuring out like, for next year if you need to go into the luxury tax to keep Jrue [Holiday],” Turner said. Pay Payton [Pritchard]. You need to pay [Jayson] Tatum and everything like that. But this team is — they’re due , they have a lot of experience, and as long as they can stay healthy they’re good.”
