SHOCK’ development in Everton’s deduction case has left the players ‘SIMMERING’ 🤬💰
Everton claimed a hugely important victory yesterday, snagging three points on the road right before their fixture list starts to boast a few tougher names.
This coming week will see them host both Newcastle United and Chelsea, as they seek to take their miraculous away form and translate it into Goodison Park.
Somehow, the Toffees have won just once at home in the Premier League this season, yet have won four already on the road.
Despite that, on the whole, it does seem like things are healing for Everton, who have licked their wounds following the ten-point deduction and now moved to within three points of safety.
However, a report has now emerged suggesting that all is not perfect behind the scenes, with journalist Alan Nixon taking to his Patreon to detail an update.

He writes: ‘Everton’s fuming players are looking at ways of recovering their wages if they are relegated because of a ten-point penalty. The Goodison dressing room is simmering about the prospect that they could end up taking massive pay cuts should that shock punishment send them down.’
The journalist continues to suggest that it could be a tricky contest legally, with the squad feeling like they are being punished for the failures of those above them at Everton.

Who are Everton’s highest-paid players?
It is likely that the most aggrieved parties will be those who are earning the highest wages, given the hefty salary cut they would all be expected to make.
However, when delving through the squad, it seems unlikely that the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski would kick up a huge fuss over the relegation.
The latter is the highest-paid player at the club, with his £130k-per-week deal a fresh one, closely followed by the England international, who earns a cool £125k-per-week, via Capology.
Amadou Onana would likely cause an issue should they go down, but only due to the widespread interest he has garnered, whilst Andre Gomes remains a drain on their wages anyway given he is yet to make an appearance this campaign despite picking up £112k-per-week.

It is worth noting that Everton’s approximate £79m-per-year wage bill would certainly need to be trimmed were they to go down, given Leicester City, who currently sit atop the Championship, have an annual payroll of £60m.
The hope is that such an outcome can be avoided anyway, and that Nixon’s suggestion will be rendered a moot point as the Toffees soar to safety.
