£40,000-a-week Crystal Palace player now admits he loves life at Selhurst Park

Jordan Ayew has now sent a message to the Crystal Palace fans after signing a new contract at Selhurst Park.

The Ghana international has penned a new deal running until June 2025 – his previous terms were set to expire at the end of the season.
So, what did Jordan Ayew say after signing a new contract at Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?
Well, the 32-year-old found himself moving around a fair bit after arriving in England from Lorient back in 2015.

Ayew spent two seasons at Aston Villa until the Villans were relegated, before moving to South Wales to join Swansea, where he spent another two years before the Swans also dropped into the Championship.

A £2.5m move to Crystal Palace ensued after an initial season-long loan in 2018, and Selhurst Park has now been the Ghanaian’s home for over five years.

It is the longest Ayew has spent at any club throughout his career aside from Marseille – where he made 147 appearances.

The Crystal Palace No.9 has now amassed 186 appearances for the Eagles – more than he has made for any other club – scoring 20 goals while also providing 17 assists.

Discussing his decision to sign a new contract on Instagram, Ayew wrote: “I’m so happy to have extended my stay with this special club again. This is my home and I’m really proud to wear our shirt 🙏🏾♥️

“The fans have always been amazing with me and the only way to pay back their support is to fight every minute I’m on the pitch. Thank you to the boss Roy, Steve Parish, Dougie Freedman and all the staff for the trust they’ve had in me since I arrived 🙏🏾 Back to work…  💪🏾🦅🔴🔵”

Jordan Ayew has turned into something of a Crystal Palace cult hero

Nobody would have expected Ayew to rack up 186 appearances following his £2.5m move from Swansea, but it is testament to his hard work and professionalism that he has done exactly that.

Not only has the Marseille-born forward amassed almost 200 appearances, but he also won the Crystal Palace Player of the Season award in 2019/20 after an outstanding campaign, which effectively kept us in the Premier League that term.

Ayew was also named Players’ Player of the Season and won Goal of the Season too – following that special chip against West Ham at Selhurst Park.

Say what you want about the £40,000-a-week man’s end product, but nobody can argue that he doesn’t give 100% for Crystal Palace on a weekly basis.
