Anthony Gordon now shares how he really feels about returning to Everton on Thursday

The goal takes Gordon’s tally to six, boasting four goals in his last four games at St James’ Park. But next up is an away fixture, at a ground the 22-year-old knows very well.
Gordon came through the Everton academy before leaving the Toffees in January. He has been back to Goodison Park just once since his departure, in a game that saw Newcastle pull Everton to pieces.
On that night, Gordon was a late sub. He had little to no impact, with the game already won by the time he came on.
But Thursday night will be different. Gordon will be tasked with being one of Newcastle’s chief creators, and he has now spoke about his looming return to his former employers.

Following Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, Gordon spoke to NUFC TV. He was asked about the upcoming trip to Goodison Park and what it means for him individually.

“This game coming up is no different for me than any other,” he said.
“It’s another game I’m looking to perform in and win the game. We’re in a really good place.
“We know the environment we’re going to go into on Thursday. It’s no secret. We need to be ready for that. It’s going to be a challenging game and one that we’re looking to win.”

It is a professional response from Gordon, who is seeing it as just another game. However, that won’t totally be the case.
Newcastle vs Everton has became quite a feisty game in recent years, while the scorn from the Toffees faithful will be even more ferocious when they see Gordon playing for the opposite side – at a time when they are already furious following their Premier League points deduction.
He did not leave on good terms, but he now returns to Goodison Park as a completely different player.
The winger is in the form of his life, with calls mounting up for him to go to Euro 2024 with England. And those calls will get louder if he shines on Thursday night at the expense of his old club.
