Pundit claims Roy Hodgson ‘deserves to be knighted’ after Crystal Palace loss
Crystal Palace suffered a disappointing defeat to Luton Town on Sunday, and Roy Hodgson is coming under increased pressure.
It has recently emerged that whilst Hodgson is not in any immediate danger, results and performances may need to improve soon, with his assistant Paddy McCarthy waiting in the wings in case the 76-year-old is dismissed.
Hodgson made a shock return to the club last season after Patrick Vieira was sacked, and succeeded in keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
However, this season has been a fairly miserable one so far, but it has been claimed that Hodgson now deserves to be knighted.

The BBC pundit included Michael Olise in his Premier League team of the week following his stunning goal against Luton Town, and also praised Hodgson for the way he conducted himself after the game.
“Roy Hodgson’s concise, dignified and measured contribution in his post-match interview leaves him as the doyen among managers,” he stated.
“He was cutting and biting towards the officials without breaking any of the rules. It’s time this man was knighted for the contribution he has made to the game.”
Hodgson had lamented mistakes made by his Palace side, but also praised Luton for their performance in what was a disastrous day for him, as he lost Cheick Doucoure to a long-term injury.

Hodgson is arguably a legend of the game considering what he has done in his remarkable career, and he was viewed very fondly by Palace fans at the end of last season, having come out of retirement to help keep them up.
His managerial career began in 1976, and he is one of the most experienced coaches in world football, but some now believe that it is time for him to call it a day again.
Hodgson began his playing career at Crystal Palace, having come through the ranks at the club, and it would seem fitting for him to end his managerial career at Selhurst Park.
Once his departure is confirmed, with it likely that he leaves at the end of the season, fans may be more appreciative of the job he has done over the years, but right now there is some unhappiness at performances and the style of play under him.
