The Minnesota Vikings found an unexpected hero during their Week 9 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
After Jaren Hall went down due to injury, Josh Dobbs was the next man up, tasked with leading the charge for the rest of the game.
He answered the call, putting up 158 yards and two touchdowns en route to their unlikely victory.
While Dobbs played well, he recently talked about the difficulties of stepping into a new offense.
Dobbs described this environment as studying Spanish for an entire year, but having just a few days to take a test on French instead, according to Dov Kleiman.
Despite not knowing many of his teammate’s names, Dobbs and Kevin O’Connell were able to communicate effectively.
O’Connell has already named him the starter for the Vikings’ Week 10 game against the New Orleans Saints.
With a full week to prepare, hopefully learning some of his teammates’ names, Dobbs’ ceiling is even higher in this offense.
He proved to his teammates and coaching staff that he was more than capable of leading this offense.
While it hasn’t been announced yet, Dobbs will likely start for the Vikings for the rest of the season in Kirk Cousins’ absence, pending a disaster against the Saints.
The Vikings are firmly within playoff contention in the NFC, and Dobbs seems to be the quarterback that will help them get there.
With upcoming games against the Saints, Denver Broncos, and Chicago Bears, the Vikings might be well on their way to a postseason berth with Dobbs at the helm.
