Tottenham ace Richarlison training return update issued by Injury Expert
Doctor issues training return update for Tottenham striker Richarlison
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur…
Tottenham attacker Richarlison may be out of first-team training until the middle of December due to his hernia injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert believes that a return within the coming days appears unlikely as he’s dealing with the repetitive pulling of adductor muscles on the pubic bone.
Ange Postecoglou revealed on 10 November that the 26-year-old has been battling this injury throughout the season.
Discussing the state of play with van de Ven exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Based on commentary and the fact he’s been carrying it for a while and playing through pain, he likely has what’s called a sports hernia.
“This is the repetitive pulling of the adductor muscles on the pubic bone leading to constant inflammation and discomfort – not uncommon for footballers.
“He should be back in training by mid-December or so.
“If he’s slated for a return to first-team football on 15 December, he might even be back in full training in the first week of December.”
The 26-year-old has struggled to make a mark since his big-money move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last summer.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the Brazil international played 27 Premier League games and just managed to score one goal and provide three assists.
This term, he’s managed to amass identical stats in just 10 Premier League matches – something that Postecoglou will have appreciated.
Spurs fans will be hoping that once he’s back from his injury, he keeps himself fit and showcases the form he did while playing for Everton
