James Maddison names former Tottenham player he would put in the current team
James Maddison has named the Tottenham Hotspur player from the past that he would put in the current side.
Maddison was speaking in a Q&A with Spurs’ official social media account, as he opted for Paul Gascoigne to play alongside him in the middle of the park.

Tottenham have had some unbelievable players down the years. Of course, plenty of Spurs fans would be forgiven for ruing the fact that James Maddison and Harry Kane did not get to play together in a competitive game.
But when asked which former Tottenham player he would put in the current team, Maddison did not opt for Kane.
Instead, he suggested that he would love to get to play alongside one of the greatest talents England has ever produced.
“I think the first one I’d probably have to say is Gazza, just because he was my dad’s favourite player growing up and I used to watch clips of him purely because my dad loved the way he played,” he told the Q&A.
“Obviously, I got the pleasure of meeting him at the last England camp, which was very surreal, kind of a pinch me moment. I’d probably bring Gazza back in and have him in midfield with me.”

There is absolutely no question that Paul Gascoigne playing in an Ange Postecoglou side would be unbelievable to watch. Few midfielders have had the natural talent that Gascoigne had. And it was at Spurs where he played his best football.
Maddison’s task is to try and write his name into Tottenham folklore during his time with the club. He is definitely off to a brilliant start, scoring three goals and providing five assists in the Premier League.
Obviously, he has a long, long way to go before he is held in the same esteem as Gascoigne. But Maddison is definitely one of the most exciting players in the division right now.
He has been a game-changing signing for Tottenham. And Spurs now have an amazing opportunity to achieve something special with Ange Postecoglou at the helm.
Certainly, there seems to be a good chance that future Tottenham players will be talking about their admiration for Maddison some day.
