Outstanding’ £50k-a-week star considers himself next big transfer out of Wolves
Pedro Neto reportedly considers himself to be the next big transfer out of Wolves, believing he’ll follow in the footsteps of Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes.
Neto has been a revelation so far this season, before he picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle United.
The Portuguese winger had clocked up seven assists in the Premier League, in addition to one brilliant goal he scored against Luton Town.
He looked like he was back to the levels he was showing before the serious knee injury he suffered in 2021.
Neto is currently on the sidelines again but he said recently that his recovery was going well and he’ll likely be back in a couple of weeks.
Wolves fans will be hoping he can pick up where he left off.

Inevitably as a result of Neto’s brilliant performances, there has been a lot of speculation about his future already.
Arsenal have long been admirers of him and it’s been suggested the Gunners could come calling. But Neto did recently say that he was happy at Wolves, telling the Telegraph: “I’m enjoying the moment here so I will continue to do that. The future and long-term ambitions don’t matter. We will never go down in any situation, we are here to win and fight. I feel really good at the moment and hope to continue.”
Despite that, Johnny Phillips has provided some more information about Neto in his new Express & Star column.
He says that £50,000-a-week star Neto ‘considers himself the next cab off the rank’ at Molineux in terms of being a high-profile sale, and that he can follow in the footsteps of Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes, all of whom sold for way over £40 million each.
It was really good to see Neto make those comments about Wolves recently and it does seem like he genuinely wants to stay at the club for the time being.
But realistically, he is going to leave Molineux in the next year or two, especially if he does keep a high level until the end of the current season. After all, he has been ‘outstanding’, as club legend John Richards said recently.
The likelihood is that teams will target Neto next summer and it’s not unreasonable for him to think he could become the next Jota, Neves or Nunes.
He’s a special talent and someone many top clubs would love to have in their squad. Hopefully, if Wolves do reach a point of selling Neto, then it’ll be for a fee that far exceeds the £53 million Manchester City spent on Nunes, which is Wolves’ record sale.
