49ers’ Christian McCaffrey Brutally Rips Brock Purdy Haters

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has his fair share of detractors, with many claiming that he is merely a product of Kyle Shanahan’s system. However, running back Christian McCaffrey has other ideas.
Following Purdy’s Week 11 performance in which he posted a perfect 158.3 passer rating in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McCaffrey had some choice words for Purdy’s critics.
“I kind of hope the critics just keep coming ’cause it pisses him off and he plays really well,” McCaffrey said, via KNBR.
McCaffrey also raved about his signal-caller.
“Dang he had a perfect passer rating,” McCaffrey added. “Whoo, wow, that’s incredible, yeah, he’s a baller man. He’s a baller. That’s a good defense too, so it doesn’t shock me but that’s impressive.”
Purdy went 21-for-25 with 333 yards and three touchdowns in the 49ers’ 27-14 win.
It marked Purdy’s second straight strong outing, as he also went 19-for-26 with 296 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.
Those two performances came after three consecutive subpar weeks for Purdy, which resulted in three straight San Francisco losses.
On the season overall, the 23-year-old has thrown for 2,662 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing a league-high 70.2 percent of his passes and posting a league-high passer rating of 115.1.
Purdy, who played his collegiate football at Iowa State, was selected by the Niners with the last overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.
He began his rookie campaign third on the depth chart, but was pressed into starting duty following season-ending injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance.
Purdy has been mostly impressive ever since.
