Barcelona midfielder tipped to become best in the world by Tottenham star: “Reminds me of Iniesta”

After losing Xavi and Andres Iniesta, Barcelona struggled for a fair few seasons trying to reassemble their midfield. Several players came and went, like Arthur, Arturo Vidal, Carles Alena, Riqui Puig, and Paulinho, among others.

After years of failures, Barcelona have finally struck gold. This season, they have one of the finest midfield in the world, with seasoned professionals like Ilkay Gundogan and Frenkie de Jong, but also youngsters with bags of potential like Gavi and Fermin Lopez.

The crown jewel of them all, however, is 20-year-old Pedro Gonzalez, aka Pedri. Already one of the finest in the world, with the potential to cement his place among the best the sport has ever seen.

Pedri already has the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy Award to his name, and while his recent campaigns has been marred with injuries, the world is still in awe of his talent and performances.

This includes some of the best midfielders in the world themselves, like Yves Bissouma.

“Pedri makes me think about Iniesta. When we played the friendly game against Barcelona, I came to Pedri after the game and told him, ‘Give me your shirt because you are going to be one of the best midfielders in the world,” the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder said, as seen on Kick Game.

“They have de Jong, and all of these players, all good, but when they have the ball, I know I want to go get it, but with this guy [Pedri], he turns left, right, right left. It was preseason, and I don’t think he played at 100%.”

Bissouma also included Andres Iniesta as one of his top three midfielders of all time alongside Yaya Toure and Zinedine Zidane, saying that “he was a computer”.

The Mali international is currently enjoying one of his best seasons in the top flight, sitting on top of the Premier League standings with Tottenham Hotspurs.

As for Pedri, the Spaniard is expected to return from injury this weekend as Barcelona takes on Real Sociedad in La Liga.
