Crystal palace are about to make a very serious mistake..

Crystal Palace must now avoid making big mistake in January

Crystal Palace defender Rob Holding has been linked with a move away and the club now need to avoid making a big mistake in January.

They need to not sell the defender.

So, why is it so important for Crystal Palace to not sell Rob Holding in January? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?

The English defender joined Palace in the summer transfer window on deadline day for around £1m and it was no doubt a bargain deal for an experienced defender.

Apparently the lack of game time that Holding has received at Palace since joining could see a possible move in January happen.

The Eagles should not be letting the defender go for many reasons and it would be a big mistake if they let Holding depart in January.

Holding has won two FA Cup trophies and also the Community Shield. The 28 year-old defender is experienced with 98 appearances in the Premier League.

Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi are a great centre-back partnership and it is always going to be hard for Holding to beat them in the starting lineup.

The pair have both been linked with moves to bigger clubs, with Andersen attracting interest from Newcastle and Guehi attracting interest from many clubs battling at the top.

With this in mind, it is very likely that one could depart next summer and it looks like the Eagles have somewhat prepared for that with the signing of Holding.

With James Tomkins towards the end of his career and his contract expiring in the summer, you are left with Holding and Chris Richards as cover.

Of course they are not as good as Andersen and Guehi but they are definitely good future options should one centre-back move on next summer. That is why it is essential to keep Holding and not sell him to another Premier League club.
