Wolves in seven-club chase for 26-year-old, after successful Joao Gomes transfer
Wolves have today been linked with a move for exciting Fluminense winger Jhon Arias.
TEAMtalk have reported that a host of clubs are on the Colombia international’s tail, having enjoyed a fruitful campaign in 2023. Arias has made a whopping 53 appearances across all competitions, and scored nine goals and providing 13 assists.
Arias, capable of playing out wide and as a central attacking midfielder, has impressed with his mazy dribbling and rapid turn of pace.
Wolves do not have a huge pool of options to play on the wings.
Hwang Hee-chan and Pedro Neto have been Gary O’Neil’s go-to picks. But after those two there is only really Pablo Sarabia. Rayan Ait-Nouri is capable of playing as a winger, but he is primarily a wing-back or a full-back.
So there is potential for Wolves to need a player like Arias, with O’Neil having mentioned about strengthening the squad after the win over Bournemouth.

But a host of other clubs are looking at the talented South American. They include English clubs West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Burnley, Leeds United and Leicester City, and Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.
It will be interesting to see if any of these clubs send scouts to watch Arias in the upcoming Copa Libertadores between Fluminense and Boca Juniors.
The game takes place on Saturday at 8pm UK time for those perhaps wanting to take a look at Arias in particular.
Wolves looking to the South American market once more
It’s interesting to be reading about interest from Wolves in another South American player.
The club struck gold in January of this year with the signing of Joao Gomes from another Brazilian club Flamengo, and it has been suggested that the club are looking to make similar signings in terms of profile – young, unpolished and hungry.
Wolves also signed Enso Gonzalez in the summer from Libertad. He hasn’t made his first-team debut yet, but is a young player the club have high hopes for.
It remains to be seen if Wolves do try to sign Arias. Pedro Neto has picked up another injury which may well indicate that Wolves need a bit more depth.
