Serie A club wants ‘great’ 20-year-old Tottenham gem on loan with option to buy
Tottenham Hotspur forward Alejo Veliz is being linked with a move away from Spurs despite only joining this summer just gone.
Corriere dello Sport previously reported that Serie A outfit Bologna wants to snap up the Spurs summer signing on loan.
The Italian outlet has now published a follow-up report (14/11/23, pg. 22) which suggests the Rossoblu want something more than just a standard loan.
Apparently, Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio would be ready to bring the Tottenham talent in on a loan ‘with a right’ of redemption.
The report claims that Bologna had ‘practically signed him’ when Marko Arnautovic looked to be heading to AC Milan early on in the summer
However, the sacking of Paolo Maldini changed everything, and forced Arnautovic to stay until later on, when he moved to Inter Milan.
This cost Bologna’s chance of signing the Argentine talent, who ended up linking up with Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham.

However, the fact Veliz is ‘not playing’ regular for the Spurs first-team means there could be an opportunity, according to the report.
Spurs unlikely to agree to those terms for Veliz deal – TBR View
Tottenham signed Veliz from Rosario Central for a reported £13million last summer, and it was clear he moved as a player for the future.
So far, the 20-year-old has made just three senior outings for Spurs, totalling just eight or so minutes.
With that in mind, there’s certainly scope for Postecoglou to loan Veliz out, but certainly not on a deal with option to buy.
This isn’t a videogame. A new signing – particularly a youngster from a different country – will need time to get used to his new league.
With that in mind, the likelihood is that, if Tottenham do want to send Veliz out on loan, it’ll be a straight loan until the end of the season.
However, it looks like Postecoglou – who previously said Veliz has a “great profile” – is eager to keep him around and oversee his development at Hotspur Way.
