Everton contract update emerges on striker Francis Okoronkwo

Everton have tied down young striker Francis Okoronkwo to a new contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2026.

The Toffees announced, via their official website on 14 November, that he has put pen to paper after his impressive displays for the under-18s and under-21s.

The 19-year-old himself was ecstatic and gave an interview with the club’s media channel, expressing delight at the deal.

“I’m buzzing to sign this new deal,” said Okoronkwo to evertontv. “I feel at home at Everton and think I’ve been improving here ever since I arrived.”

Good move

The Toffees need to tie down their best talents to longer term deals as it will end up protecting them in the future.

A number of times in the past, the best players in the academy have ended up leaving on free transfers after the expiry of their contract.

This then sees the club only get compensation and they have bureaucracy to get through in order to even get that amount over the line.

Now, in case anyone wants the teenager over the next 18 months, the Toffees are well within their rights to demand a decent transfer fee in exchange for his services.

The club’s official website has labelled him a “Skilful attacker who possesses impressive speed, movement, and balance.”

Hopefully, he keeps improving and we see him make his first-team debut sooner rather than later as he does have the potential for that.
