West Ham player stunk out the place vs Forest and late heroics cannot mask abysmal display
One West Ham United player was particularly poor during our clash with Nottingham Forest this afternoon.
West Ham played host to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League today, and a win was an absolute must heading into the third international break of the season.
The Hammers started in fine fashion scoring inside the first three minutes, but it was the same old story after that, as we sat off and let Nottingham Forest come onto us.
The Reds actually went 2-1 up in the second-half before we came back into the game and won 3-2 in the end.
However, it was a really poor display on the most part from West Ham The football was turgid until we actually went behind and had to chase the game.
It’s the only way that David Moyes knows it seems. Something else that the Scot does time and time again is play Tomas Soucek from the start in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old is an extremely poor midfielder when in possession on the ball, and he really does hold us back when we’re breaking at pace.
He was absolutely abysmal today, and put in one of the worst performances I have seen from a central midfielder. Luckily for him, his late goal hugely papered over the cracks…

Tomas Soucek had a stinker for West Ham vs Nottingham Forest
Amazingly, the Czech Republic international stayed on the pitch in the second-half, with Edson Alvarez making way for Michail Antonio.
Moyes will point to the fact that the 6ft 4in midfielder bagged the winner, but he won’t be bailed out from his poor displays every week by goals.
Just look at these stats and tell me if the former Slavia Prague man should be playing for a Premier League team…
Soucek had just 32 touches of the football today, and made only 17 passes, with a shocking completion rate of just 70% (Who Scored). I’m not sure another central midfielder in the Premier League would ever have registered such poor numbers.
He has absolutely no guile, grace or technical ability and just lumbers around in the middle of the park. His first touch is horrendous and there is no method to anything that he does when he receives the football.
The thing is, he scored the winner for West Ham against Nottingham Forest in the end, but that doesn’t mask just how poor he is, in my opinion anyway.
The worst thing about it is that it’s David Moyes’ fault, because he keeps playing him. And even more frustrating is the fact that his late goal will have papered over the cracks and people will forget about how poor he actually was throughout the game.
If we are to make genuine progress as a club, I firmly believe that Soucek needs to be moved on – he’s not a Premier League footballer in my opinion.
