Everton are flying at the moment. Or at least, they are compared to how they have been doing in recent years.
Having won six of their last nine in all competitions, sat a fair distance from the drop and into a cup quarter-finals, it is truly miraculous just how far the Toffees have come in such a short space of time.
The way in which Sean Dyche has managed to mastermind such a turnaround is supremely impressive, and his minimal financial backing only emphasises that.
It is those restrictions in the market that make the Daily Mail’s claims so questionable, as they have recently suggested that the Merseyside outfit are one of a few Premier League clubs interested in signing Archie Gray from Leeds United.
However, that could prove a tough task, given the rich history his family shares with the Whites, as well as the reported £40m price tag slapped on the 17-year-old.
It would be a tough deal for a hamstrung Everton to make, but one which could see them replicate the success earned by snagging Jack Harrison from Elland Road.
How good is Archie Gray?
Were the teenage sensation to make the move to Goodison Park and enjoy a start like the 26-year-old winger has, it would certainly be money well spent on an ace that could star for the next decade and more.

After all, the on-loan speedster has enjoyed a blistering first few matches for the Toffees, having scored once and assisted three more from just five starts in the Premier League so far whilst seamlessly fitting into the hard-working philosophy instilled.
Gray, on the other hand, has been shining in the Championship, of which he only made his first start this campaign and has never looked back.
The versatile youngster has since made 15 league appearances, impressing with his defensive work rate and in-possession maturity.
As such, his 81% pass accuracy is admirable given Daniel Farke has often deployed him at full-back, likely aiding his 2.3 tackles and 5.2 ball recoveries per game, via Sofascore.
To be thriving at the senior level already, and a mainstay for a side seeking to return to the top flight at the first time of asking, is hugely admirable. Farke too has been impressed with his ability to shine, noting after his first start against Cardiff City: ‘He’s in the right place to learn, he’s got a little bit of everything in him. Phenomenal player, he did really well today.’
Perhaps, if he could maintain such form upon moving to Everton, he could even outdo the masterclass Dyche already pulled off by tempting Harrison to Goodison Park.
