Report: Player is eager to ‘show off’ to Postecoglou amid club’s interest in him – Spurs Web – Tottenham Hotspur Football News
According to Tuttosport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Juventus are not optimistic about their chances of signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the outlet claiming that the midfielder remains keen to impress Ange Postecoglou.
It has been widely reported over the past few days that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and his assistant Giovanni Manna were at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday to run the rule over Hojbjerg (The Telegraph).
That is perhaps an indication that the Old Lady are expected to step up their pursuit of the experienced midfielder.
However, journalist Ciro Venerato stated on Tuesday that there is still a €15m (£13m) difference in Tottenham’s and Juve’s valuation of the 28-year-od (La Domenica Sportiva via TuttoJuve).
If TuttoSport’s latest update is to be believed, there is not a great deal of confidence at the Turin club that they will be able to win the race for Hojbjerg.
This is because Juve are looking to sign the Spurs man on an initial loan deal, which is not a formula that interests the Lilywhites, who are allegedly looking for a permanent transfer for €30m (£26m).
Additionally, the publication states that the former Southampton star is ‘eager to show off’ to Postecoglou when opportunities come his way, and could see the upcoming AFCON in January as an opportunity to impress the Tottenham boss.
Spurs Web Opinion
I have no doubt that Hojbjerg’s priority would be to secure a transfer in January in order to get regular game time. While the Dane has shown this season that he will deliver when called upon, I do not think he will feel he has anything to prove to Postecoglou or anyone else.
