£100m Liverpool target claims Alexis Mac Allister is the best player he’s ever played alongside

Brighton forward Evan Ferguson has named Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister has the best player he’s played with.

Ferguson’s form for Brighton has seen him earmarked as a potential future superstar. Just 19-years-old, the Irishman is already said to be on the radar of the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

And judging by some of his comments to TalkSPORT today, the Reds might just have a trump card to play in the chase to sign Ferguson.

Asked to name his best ever teammate, the young striker opted for a man who now wears Liverpool red.

“I’d say Alexis” replied the youngster. “Obviously he’s gone to Liverpool now but I enjoyed playing with him, he would always look forward and look for that penetrating pass.”

Ferguson raves about Mac Allister
Having picked up a slight niggle recently, Ferguson has dropped off slightly from his incredible start to the season.

But still only very young, the Ireland international is undoubtedly going to be a top player.

The likes of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk have already been singing his praises, and you get the impression that he won’t be at Brighton for too much longer.

When he does leave though, the Seagulls will make sure they get a big, big price. There have been reports that they’ll be looking to bank as much as £100m for Ferguson [Sky Sports].

Clearly, that isn’t the kind of money that Liverpool tend to part with, especially for a player so young.

If they need any reference for just how good the Brighton man can be though, they can always ask Alexis.

Liverpool’s No.10 didn’t play a huge amount with Ferguson, but he obviously made an impression. If the admiration turns out to be mutual, then maybe the Reds will push on ahead.

More immediately, Ferguson’s words should be a reminder of how highly Mac Allister is rated.

He may have started to struggle slightly for Liverpool, but if given patience, he’ll surely start to justify these kind words.
