Everton: Ornstein drops Branthwaite exit verdict in new transfer update

David Ornstein drops new transfer update on Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite

David Ornstein has insisted Jarrad Branthwaite will be on the radar of many clubs after his performances for Everton so far this season, although they are reluctant to see him leave.

The Athletic journalist claimed that, with Branthwaite having signed a new contract at Goodison Park recently, the club have no intentions of letting him leave while they remain in the Premier League.

This will come as a boost to Everton fans with reports continuing to suggest that the defender is drawing interest from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

Ornstein replied to a fan via The Athletic’s Q&A session on 2 November addressing links to the Everton star, as he shared: “Branthwaite will be on the radar for many clubs; his performances warrant that.

“But Everton have tied him to a new contract and will have no intention of selling him as long as they stay in the Premier League.”

Branthwaite’s performances have caught the eye of many this season, with several impressive displays earning him links to some of the country’s biggest clubs, but Everton moved quickly to tie him down to a new deal in what will prove to be a smart piece of business.

He has been one of the star performers at Goodison Park so far, striking up an imposing partnership with James Tarkowski at the heart of Everton’s defence, and the club will be looking to cling onto him for as long as they can.

Ornstein suggested that their hopes of keeping Branthwaite at the club hinge on their Premier League survival, but that is something that both fans and players will be feeling more optimistic about given their impressive run of form.

Sean Dyche’s side have won four of their last six games, with the only defeats coming against Liverpool and Luton, and have turned their form around given their difficult start. For Everton and Branthwaite, this will be a huge boost to their hopes this season.
