Roy Hodgson must now make special request to Gareth Southgat
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson should ask Gareth Southgate to rest Eberechi Eze over the upcoming international break instead of selecting him for the England squad.
The player deserves his place but he is just back in the Palace squad.
So, why should Roy Hodgson make this special request for Eberechi Eze? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Over the last few international breaks, Crystal Palace star Eze has become a regular in the England squad; however, he was not in the last one and this was due to injury.
The Palace playmaker, who Steve Parish is confident will sign a new contract, had a hamstring injury and we have only just seen him return from this injury last weekend.
He came on in the second half and immediately picked up an assist, emphasising how good he is at this current time.
Due to him just coming back, it would be great for the player to be rested just so that he can make sure that he has fully recovered.

There are not a lot of international breaks left now until the Euro 2024 Championships, and Eze will definitely feel like he has a chance to get there.
This may see the attacking midfielder want to be available for the upcoming matches England will play over November, but manager Roy Hodgson will want him fully fit and raring to go.
The 25-year-old, who the Eagles signed for £16m, is crucial to the club and he is arguably their talisman. With Palace 11th in the division and looking up rather than down, they will not want Eze to get injured again.
With this in mind, it feels like it would be best for Hodgson to make a special request to England manager Gareth Southgate and ask for Eze to be rested.
With the player scoring 10 goals in the Premier League last season and also on top form this campaign when he has been fully fit, it would be a huge shock if he is not in the England squad next summer.
He adds qualities that not many English players have and no doubt he will continue his fine form throughout the rest of the season.
