‘Losers’- Alex Crook hits out at Everton live on talkSPORT as transfer window slams shut

The talkSPORT journalist ranted about their lack of options up front after Dominic Calvert-Lewin hasn’t scored in 16 games, while Crook insisted Beto looks like he’d never score again.

He rounded off by claiming he fears for Everton this season, and that they will be in big trouble at the end of the season as a result of this transfer window.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [1 February, 23:01], Crook ranted: “I think Everton are one of the losers. I saw them in midweek at Fulham, honestly, they couldn’t finish their dinner. Dominic Calvert-Lewin hasn’t scored for 16 games, Beto looks like he’ll never score again.

“I fear for Everton. I think they’re in big trouble, so they’re definitely one of the losers of this transfer window.”

Everton were never likely to do many deals in this transfer window as a result of the financial issues the club has faced in recent months, but the complete lack of activity at Goodison Park has meant the second half of the season will be a tough effort.

Sean Dyche worked miracles last year after Everton were the only club not to do a January deal, and while circumstances are different this time around, he will be asked to perform a similarly miraculous escape act.

The club have fallen into the relegation zone in the wake of Luton’s 4-0 victory against Brighton while they limped to a 0-0 draw with Fulham, something Crook has been highly critical of, and it will now be a fight for the Toffees to pull themselves out of the mud.

Attacking reinforcements were desperately needed, and with both domestic loan slots still open at Goodison Park, there was some hope they might fill at least one of those. Ultimately though, they’ve bene left wanting.
