Wolves now in talks to hand ‘excellent’ 21-year-old a new contract
Wolves have reportedly now opened contract talks with defender Hugo Bueno.
That is according to The Telegraph, who have brought an update on the state of play at Wolves after a hectic summer. The publication says Wolves are now in a healthier position financially, after selling a number of players.
The likes of Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez, Nathan Collins and Matheus Nunes all departed Molineux, with around £140 million being generated in sales.
The situation is looking better for Wolves, who have made a decent start to the new season under Gary O’Neil all things considered.
It means there is now more freedom to sort other things out, such as new contracts – and it looks as though the club are ready to try and get Hugo Bueno tied down…

Jose Sa recently signed a new deal at Molineux. And it looks like Bueno could be next in line.
According to The Telegraph, talks have now started between the club and the player over fresh terms.

It is actually almost a year to the day that Bueno last signed a new contract at Wolves. Last season he enjoyed a breakthrough, making his debut for the first team against Nottingham Forest.
On November 2, he signed a new four-year deal with the option for a further 12 months. At the time, then-technical director Matt Hobbs said: “We always try to reward young players who are doing particularly well. Hugo, since he came at 16, has been excellent in how he’s progressed.”
Bueno is a top prospect
So Wolves are trying to tie Bueno down to a new contract, which shows the faith they have in him.
It’s interesting thought because Bueno has not seen too much involvement so far this season. So far, Gary O’Neil has preferred to use Rayan Ait-Nouri at left-back or left wing-back. And after the 2-2 draw with Newcastle, the manager stated that ‘the sky is the limit’ for the Algerian.
Bueno has seven appearances across all competitions so far. But he has mostly been coming off the bench, and he has not played a single minute of Wolves’ current five-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.
But Bueno’s time will come again at Molineux. right now, he just needs to be patient.
He is definitely a top prospect, and someone former manager Julen Lopetegui said was ‘very professional’.
