Wataru Endo names the player who has impressed him the most since joining Liverpool

Wataru Endo has suggested that Alisson Becker has been the most impressive player he’s come across at Liverpool.

Endo made a big jump up this summer, surprisingly joining the Reds from Stuttgart in the middle of August.

Since then, he’s been feeling his way into life at one of Europe’s biggest clubs. And speaking in a recent interview with Liverpool’s official matchday programme via liverpoolfc.com, the 30-year-old evaluated the level of the players he now calls teammates.

“All the players have very high skills here and among them I think the goalkeeper Alisson is great,” Endo raved.

“I have played with a lot of ’keepers but his ability to stop shots is excellent.

“Of course, the forward players have very high skills and the other players are very skilful as well, but Alisson’s ability to stop shots is brilliant.

“He saves the team from dangerous situations and he is very powerful.”

Endo heaps praise on Alisson
Out of Liverpool’s current crop of talented stars, it’s hard to pick one who stands out amongst the rest.

Mohamed Salah may still be most fans’ pick in this regard, and you can certainly make a very compelling case for the Egyptian.

His powers may be on the wane a touch, but Virgil van Dijk may also get plenty of votes, with vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold no doubt in the running, too.

The Brazilian was head and shoulders Liverpool’s best player during last season, and has carried his brilliance into this campaign, too. It doesn’t bear thinking about where the Reds would be without him.

So, although Salah may take a lot of the plaudits, it’s interesting to hear that from a new player’s point of view, Ali has stood out.

We’re lucky to have one of the best goalkeepers of a generation as our own. Endo clearly sees that and we do too. You won’t find a better stopper on the planet.
