Sky pundit claims ‘unstoppable’ Premier League player Arsenal looking to sign ‘wants a move’
Darren Bent thinks Arsenal transfer target Pedro Neto is playing for a move as he continues to shine for Gary O’Neil’s Wolves this season.
The 23-year-old is leading the assists charts in the Premier League after ten games, with seven to his name, including during his side’s 2-2 draw against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Unfortunately for Pedro Neto, he suffered a hamstring injury during that game and is now set to be out of action for a while, which is going to be a body blow to Wolves because Darren Bent thinks he has been ‘unstoppable’, as he told Sky Sports News.
That’s a reason why a number of clubs are looking to sign the Portugal international in January, including Arsenal – It has been suggested that Mikel Arteta is ‘tempted’ to splash the cash on Pedro Neto, as claimed by Football Transfers in October.
A player who has been crippled by injuries over the years, if Pedro Neto could get a string of starts together without any injury issues, then he would probably be playing at a higher level now.
That will probably come in time because Darren Bent thinks he is playing like someone who is sending out signals to those interested parties.
‘Unstoppable’ Pedro Neto
“Neto is playing like someone who wants a move,” said Bent. “Everything he is doing is positive. Running with the ball. Trying to create opportunities. We know he spent a lot of time out with his injuries.
“It looks like there is something there and a burning desire to show everyone how good I am. In such a short space of time coming back, he has been unstoppable. He has been fantastic.”
The Wolves flyer, who likes to play on the right, but can operate on the other flank, wouldn’t start for unbeaten Arsenal.
The likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are ahead of the player, but he would certainly take the club’s depth in quality up a level.
Given the injury scares to Saka this season and how he is being overworked, bringing in someone like Neto would certainly ease the pressure on that right-hand side.
Neto is a level above someone like Reiss Nelson, who is the next man in line to start when Saka isn’t picked, which could be the case for Arsenal’s trip to West Ham United in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
